Hustlin': Getting Deep

In the book Hustlin' by L.Divine is a book in which Jayd has to face drama in her life, by using her heritage of the Williams woman to help her out. Recently Jayd's friends have gone their separate ways because of jealousy and because they disagree on many issues. Recently Jayd's friend Mickey is pregnant with a baby and she doesn't even know who the father is, since she's been with her boyfriend whom will buy her everything she pleases, and she is fooling around with Nigel whom she truly loves. She is still indecisive of what she should do with that baby: keep it and raise it with pride, have an abortion and graduate, or she gives birth than gives it up for adoption. Whatever choice she makes, she will never know which choice is the RIGHT choice logically since after she chooses a choice she will have to go through that road, and she can't later go back and choose another option to see which option is the right one. Jayd uses "voodoo" to help her out trying to make the right choices, but ultimately what she is doing is taking away her friends freedom and Jayd uses her ethics as well as her opinion on what the right choice for her friend is, but then takes away the freedom of her friend ultimately.

What is the "right" choice to make? And how can we ever look back to know if we made the "right" choice if we don't know where the other options might lead us? Logically we can never know which choice is the "right" choice since we can't go back in time and fix a mistake. If Jayd takes matters in to her hands, she wouldn't be doing Mickey a favor, if Jayd makes a spell that gets rid of the baby, then Mickey wouldn't learn to fix her mistakes. And what id Jayd is doing the wrong thing by getting rid of the baby? Well of course no one would know if they did since she can't go back in time and choose another path.

Not much has happened from reading, except that Jayd's enemy Laura has stolen Nellie back into her side, making it even harder to keep her friends together. Mickey is still being stubborn and ignorant, but at least Jayd has finally set her straight when Mickey made her sign a piece of paper excusing all the absences that Mickey and Nigel have done when shipping school. Jayd's working at Netta is being even more magical then she expected, because of the cleansing she has to do before she can start working. Jeremy and Rah are still on Jayd's track and honestly, Jayd does not know what to do about either one of them. Jeremy is such a gentlemen but his racist family will not be good for Jayd since she is of a darker complexion, Rah knows Jayd from head to toe, and they have shared so many things with each other, especially the history they have from Family Christian, their old school, before Jayd transferred out, but Rah's morals and ethics don't match up to be like Jayd's and they constantly disagree on how matters in life should be taken into hand. Jayd's teacher is hot on her trail, and apparently he knows too much of her line of heritage, and it seems as if he is pressuring her to do something although what isnt clear in the book.
How can we prevent life from unraveling itself to us, once we get to see the negative outcome of the situation. a lot of the times, once we make a decision and we see, the decision made wasn't the best choice for oneself, then we want to change it, but we can't, why? If we so have such a "voice" in our own decisions why can't we know what the outcomes might be of making a decision? Jayd helped Misty out and that back fired because Misty was being ungrateful and started spreading news to the school, that Jayd was a witch, by putting a spell on voodoo. And Jayd has dreams but her dreams don't tell her how to avoid it, instead her dreams usually end up happening to her.

In this book, Jayd has been dragged into yet more drama: 

1. Mickey's man is stocking Jayd and trying to seduce her
2. Mickey and Nellie are still not getting along
3. Jayd's understudy for the Shakespearean play Macbeth, is hating on Jayd and is trying to get Jayd in trouble so that she could get kicked out of the play making, Laura the understudy, Lady Macbeth in the play.
4. Rah is going to present Jayd his baby, and the baby mama isnt happy about it...

So basically what i wanted to talk about was spirituality, How can we influence positive "vibes" in our life? For example some people use yoga and they try to stay away from drama, but what if you are already in a situation, what do you do next? So basically on my book Jayd kind of helps her friends and loved ones with a little help of her powers, but how do you know when you should help someone, and how do you know the RIGHT solution to their problems. Since we are in a philosophy unit, how do we know when the RIGHT decision has been made before you actually see the outcome?

Reading, Courtin' Jayd

In this book, Mickey has announced that she is pregnant, and the news have traveled about her upcoming baby really fast. Nellie is feeling anger because Mickey is doing something unfair: telling the person that has the money to support her and her baby, that he is the baby. But is Nellie angry because of the baby or because she is still feeling for Nigel, her man and possible baby daddy. Now Jayd has to be in the middle of the two best friends, once again, fighting each other.  Jeremy and Raheem are feeling for Jayd but Jayd is so confused about her emotions because both guys have their pros and cons, and now she has to decide, which one has the morals or values Jayd has.
This is why I am writing this. Since this week is about morals/ethics, I thought that the situation in my book would be perfect to write about. Raheem sells weed on the streets, making quick money, because his mother isnttheir to support Rah and his little brother emotionally. Jayd understands that he needs to make money, but she also believes that there are other ways, which are clean, and legal. Jeremy's family is very twisted up. Between Tania being pregnant with his baby and his family not accepting the baby as its own because of skin color is a big issue to Jayd. I mean, of course its an issue since she is colored. If Jeremy keeps on acting the way he does not taking responsibility for his baby there will be no Jayd and Jeremy. If Rah doesn't stop being a cheeter and can tie himself down to just one girl and 3 others, Jayd can work things out beside the fact that he is dating his providers sister for the cheap blunt and the quantity as well as quality of it.
I think that everyone has there own values in certain issues, but I also think that when it comes to thinking like a society, most people can agree on something. In the books, Jayd has her own values and the people her life is intertwined with have very different aspects, and she is there because she needs to set them straight and live life to their fullest, but also letting them know the wrong things they are doing.
